BEFORE FIRE & ICE: An Olympian Trilogy

DANB entered into a partnership with AOTO, 'Art of the Olympians', in the fall of 2008 with the world premier of 'Constellations', a ballet set to a backdrop of images from the Hubble telescope to music by Stella Sung, choreographed by Kim Tuttle and the inspired work of art 'Launch', by Olympian Liston Bochette III.  The collaboration was so successful that in March of 2010 DANB and AOTO partnered again with the resulting ballet 'Soar', inspired by works of art by Olympians Liston Bochette III, Al Oerter and Larry Young.   In March 2011 DANB and AOTO collaborated in the creation of 'Zoom', with art work of Olympian Cameron Myler.

On March 5, 2011 DANB was invited to provide "something dramatic at the beginning, work inspired by Olympic artists through the evening and something inspiring" at the Grand Gala for HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco.

FIRE & ICE: An Olympian Trilogy

The third in a trilogy of collaborations between DANB and AOTO, 'Art of the Olympians', Fire and Ice blasts onto the stage with beauty and drama.  Celebrating the passion of the Olympics with music, art and dance.

Bob Beamon, Olympic Gold Medalist in 1968 for "The Perfect Jump", provides edgy graphic designs  for choreographer Judy Skinner and composer-in-residence Stella Sung.

Peggy Fleming, the only Gold Medalist for the United States at the 1968 Olympics - in figure skating - provides a totally different style of painting as inspiration for Artistic Director Kim Tuttle.

Featuring the internationally acclaimed pianist Kevin Sharpe and guest choreographer Brazilian Cristina Helena, 'Fire and Ice' is the best of both classical and contemporary ballet.

A special 'doggy parade' in honor of Peggy Fleming's delightful 'puppy painting' is offered onstage during the second intermission with opportunities for adoption or fostering by Alachua County Humane Society.   You can meet the pups of your choice immediately following the performance.
